Eye On Art Gallery has scheduled an exhibitions of George Morrison's unique clay works for the June 2014 Second Saturday Gallery Walk. George is an architect and potter from Fort Wayne. His architectural aesthetic has had a big influence on his earthenware pottery and sculptural works.

I am much more interested in creating work that is a synthesis of my own vision and sensibilities without the strict confinements of photorealism. I am excited to add Tania Darashkevich to the gallery of artists here at Eye On Art Gallery. Tania was born in Ukraine and immigrated to Canada in 1998 and recently moved to Florida.  She obtained a degree in psychology from State University in Leningrad Russia, and was a psychologist for 10 years. Tania is strongly influenced by the old Masters and the works of French master Watteau. Tania's style remains classic and realistic, a reflection of her illustrative training.

Craig Blietz

PAINTING BY CRAIG BLIETZ SELECTED FOR INCLUSION IN 2012 CONTEMPORARY REALISM BIENNIAL

Craig Blietz’s painting, “K - A Rural Kouros” has been juried into The Fort Wayne Museum of Art’s 2012 Contemporary Realism Biennial in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The exhibition will run from August 11, 2012 thru October 28, 2012. A full color catalogue will accompany the exhibition.

Sarah Aubrey, the museums Curator of American Art, said “We received a record number of entries, all very high quality and in a range of media and subject. Reviewing all of the entries made it evident that Realism is definitely vital in this country.”  

Blietz’s painting depicts a standing nude figure, and results from his admiration for the Greek ‘Kouroi’ sculpture of approximately 540 B.C.  A Holstein cow skin forms a backdrop for the figure. 

Blietz’s work was also exhibited in the 2010 Contemporary Realism Biennial at The Fort Wayne Museum of Art.  Recently, Blietz had work included in the 2012 Biennial titled “Forward: A Survey of Wisconsin Art Now” at The Charles Allis Art Museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

One of two new works arriving at the gallery this week. Jeong Han Yun and his wife Choon Hyang Yun are South Korean artists now living in the US. They are instrumental in the development of the new techniques of traditional paper-making.  Their fusion of Asian and Western paper making techniques result in rich, textural works of vibrant color. The material of Jeong and Choon's work is most often extracted from the bark and flowers of the ancient Southeast Asian Dak tree.

It is always interesting to meet artists that have researched the Eye On Art Gallery and see their works as a good match. This happened with Bob Cross as he visited the gallery a few months ago. We actually had a lot in common with his work as a printer at Tyler Press in NY and my background in printmaking and teaching. His works are quite different and very textural. It is like discovering a fantastic wall section from old ruins...and give meaning to his titles.

I will be carrying the works on paper of Yves Leterme of Belgium. Yves is a fantastic calligrapher with an international following. His recent works combine the calligraphic strokes, letters and a layered style of applying paint as the Abstract Expressionists did in the 50s.

These are rare, one-of-a-kind snapshots that have been lost or tucked away for years. The artist has given the images new life and an enhanced narrative by superimposing them with text, ink, paint, gunpowder, graphite, epoxy and various other materials

Sarojini and David Johnson

Also on exhibit during the November Gallery Walk will be printmaking works by Sarojini and David Johnson. Both, accomplished printmakers and faculty members at Ball State University. Their innovative books incorporating their prints will also be on display. David and Sarojini both earned their MFAs in Printmaking at Miami University and have extensive exhibition records and awards. Their works on paper will be a great addition and look for the November Show.
