Harry Gold...Sculpture in Process

I thought it would be nice to see one of Harry Gold's sculptures in creative development. The drawing to the left shows the conceptual creation of the work and the base tricycle is to the right. Harry is a patina specialist and it will be interesting to see how the elements of the sculpture come together and see the final patina. Love his work...and ya gotta love his amazing ability. Three works coming to EYE ON ART Gallery. I can't say enough, but he can. His artist's statement: I want to make the best artwork that my abilities will allow.

I don't really like the title "artist" due to the fact that everything can be considered art (if it needs a whole lot of talk...it probably needs a little more work). I guess this would be my painter-drawer-occasional sculptor-statement. I work within a self-imposed set of parameters with respect to craftsmanship, chemistry, and my interpretation of aesthetic beauty. Lame? Yeah, I think it's the use of the word "beauty".

I don't really have much of a religious, political, social or moral agenda ( there's a whole "gang o' folks" who have that covered). Also, I change my mind too much to stick with any one philosophy.

I mostly paint about my life and my silly little observations.

So... I guess I just want to make the best work that my abilities will allow.

Craig Blietz

I first saw Craig's paintings at a gallery in Saugatuck this Summer and recognized his skills as a painter and draftsman. When the plans for EYE ON ART Gallery became a reality, he was one of the first artists to contact on my list. I met him at the Fort Wayne Museum last night to see his two works in the Contemporary Realism Biennial. He stopped to see the gallery today on his long trip back to Wisconsin. I am happy to announce that Craig will have 3 paintings and drawings in the gallery by the November 6 gallery walk and grand opening.

Wilson McLean

I am thrilled to add a great artist and illustrator, Wilson McLean to the list of artists exhibiting in EYE ON ART. Wilson was one of my favorite illustrators going back to the 1980s when I was an art director for Eli Lilly and Company and actually had the resources to commission him to do a series of paintings for a product launch. He has won many awards for his illustrations and was recently inducted into the 2010 Hall of Fame for the National Society of Illustrators. His paintings are full of rich imagery and a visual delight to view.

Sara Zin

The true joy of opening a gallery is to choose artists that I have respected and known for several years and discovering new artists that are quite established and very creative in the art they are creating. It really takes me back to my teaching at the University of Evansville and curating exhibits for the Krannert Gallery. I was amazed when I saw the sensitive portraits of Sara Zin. Sara is a fantastic artist and recent graduate of University of Washington. She is moving from Seattle to New York, so it may be a while before she is able to send new works. I look forward to showing her works in EYE ON ART Gallery.

Kenneth Baskin

I am pleased to announce the addition of Kenneth Baskin to our distinguished artists at EYE ON ART Gallery. Kenneth is Assistant Professor of Art / Ceramics McNeese State University, Lake Charles, Louisiana.In his ceramic works he explores the integration of actual and abstracted machine parts into homologous interrelationships. Metaphorically, his sculptures reflect aspects of these interrelations through: balance and instability, domination and submission, tension and ease, opposition and compromise. It is through this dynamic of push and pull, give and take, that the spontaneity and structuring of these interactions takes place.

Sangita Phadke

I am very pleased to announce the addition of Snagita Phadke to the EYE ON ART Gallery. She joins a very creative cast and I am very proud to represent her fantastic pastel paintings in this market and the Midwest. Sangita is a Board Member and Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America. She was inducted into the International Association of Pastel Societies Master Circle in 2010.
