Rob Day

Marco Polo
Oil on Paper
Image: 9.5"x10.5"
I recently had an opportunity to acquire an illustration by Rob Day, one of our gallery artists. It is a beautiful small work that exhibits the mastery of painting and unique interpretation of the subject.

This was an illustration for a story about the travel journals of Marco Polo. Commissioned and published in an in-flight magazine for a major airline.

Opening Reception is Saturday, May 14, 5-10pm.

Rob Day continues his development as a painter with an exhibit of new works at Eye On Art Gallery in Carmel. His exceptional paintings display his highly developed style of painting in the Tonalist tradition. Tonalism is rooted in the French Barbizon movement, which emphasized atmosphere and shadow. The Tonalist style is distinguished by the use of middle values of color as opposed to high chroma and stronger contrast.
