Eye On Art Gallery is delighted to show a series of works by Rick Bennett. Rick is a nationally known artist whose works reside in over 100 public, academic, corporate and private collections. Bennett holds an MFA from Indiana University and is a Professor of Art at Hanover College. His landscape and water paintings are a visual delight. His most recent award includes Best in
Show at the Horizon Landscape Exhibition, 2010.

I made two fantastic purchases when I attended the Scott Christensen Workshop in 2006. I am now offering these for purchase through the Eye On Art Gallery. Most of you painters know that very few of Scott's studies are made available. The sizes are 10"x12" and 8"x10" and in hand carved with gold leaf.

Urushi on Clayboard

Urushi (the Japanese name for lacquer) is is a viscous fluid organic material that comes from the milky sap of several varieties of an Asian tree. Urushi products can last hundreds of years while retaining their glossiness, smoothness and elegance. Their colors do not fade with the impact of light and time, and amazingly, as the years go by and the pieces age, their colors keep getting deeper and become more luminous. Artists mix urushi with color pigments and various natural dyes. Other embedding materials can be used, such as eggshell, mother-of-pearl, plant fibers, sand, and gold and silver leaf.

I am so pleased to showcase the exciting works of Nhat Tran during the November Gallery Walk, November 10 and for the full month. Her most recent exhibition was at Yamawaki Gallery, Kyoto Gallery, and Kitakata City Museum of Art. Tran was commissioned by The Indianapolis Airport Authority for a large urushi lacquer mural, On the Tip of Our Wings, completed in September 2008 and inaugurated in October 2008, for the New Indianapolis Airport.

This was a commission work completed at the client's request. The couple saw Jeong Han's work in the gallery and wanted a larger work for their space. Jeong Han finished the new piece within a week and shipped directly to the client in Peoria.
