Rai Peterson, Associate Professor of English at Ball State University. She has studied many small-press publishers and little magazines during the period, both their literary output and printing and binding methods. Recently, she has been exploring the use of vintage maps in the binding of travel journals. Laura Kuhlman, graduate of Ball State University, is currently a graduate student at the University of Iowa, where she is studying literature and is simultaneously a student at the Center for the Book. Laura makes intricate case-bound books from delicate papers with open spines. Karen Ruling, graduate of the English Department at Ball State University. Karen is the daughter of a costume designer, and her work shows unusual sartorial flair, both in choice of leathers and fabrics and elaborate closure systems using buttons and buckles. Maddy Witek, graduate of English and commercial printing departments at Ball State University. Her work concentrates on classically-bound case-books made with high-grade drawing papers and decorated paper-covered bindings. Additional works will be exhibited by David and Sarojni Johnson.
